Bedroom Messes

Hello loves, mommy here. Just thought to share something silly and real with you. You will probably always remember mommy telling you to keep your room clean, and as annoying as it may be, it so very important.

“To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled.”
‭‭Titus‬ ‭1‬:‭15‬‬ ‭ESV‬‬

To be sound in mind requires you to be neat. Just as God is clean, so are we that love Him. Remember that we represent the Most High above, which is reflected through our actions, our appearance, and our home and possessions.

Which brings me to what I wanted to write about today: Bedroom Messes. When I first became a mom, keeping up with my room was difficult. Then when I had all three of you, it felt like I could never keep anything clean. But it also made me realize that if you don’t have your home or your room or your space together, then you weren’t together in your in head. I want you to remember that:

If my space is a mess, then I am a mess.

Now mommy’s space wasn’t super clean and it wasn’t always messy, but I won’t lie and say it didn’t feel that way. Laundry accumulated, and piles of to-do’s piled up. Even writing down my to-do’s to get done overwhelmed me. My first HUGE tip to getting started: Make your bed. After making your bed, pick up everything off the floor and put it on your bed – this gives you the opportunity to vacuum. Before putting away the things on your bed, clear off your dressers and wipe everything down. Then, finally, start to put everything on your bed away. Sometimes we hold onto things that we don’t really need, so try to keep it simple. Also, be sure to deep clean your room once if not twice a month – I mean vacuuming under your bed, wiping around your windowsill, dusting picture frames – a good deep clean.

Check out how mommy use to keep your room.

This was your room after the L-shaped bunk broke. As you can see you had plenty of toys! And peep the pile of clothes mom had to hang up 😭
Mommy and daddy ended up getting you each your own bed and making one half for brother and the other for sister.

Your grandma loved buying you all clothes and toys, and it didn’t help that she worked at a retail store so every day there was something new for you (and something new for mommy to have to clean up). It was a lot of work, but it was also very nice to see you play in your room and enjoy your gifts. I got to watch your imaginations come to life in your play time and I loved every moment.

So remember that your life is a reflection of not just your parents, but of your Heavenly Father as well. And, If my space is a mess, then I am a mess. When you’re unsure where to begin:

  1. Make your bed
  2. Place everything picked up off the floor onto your bed to vacuum
  3. Clear off your dressers
  4. Get to clearing off your bed

Having a clean space helps to clear your mind too, so if you’re feeling anxious or overwhelmed, perhaps it’s time for a deep clean in your home to remove the clutter we tend to hold onto. Just let it go, love. Messes come and they go, don’t let them make you feel weighed down and defeated.

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭34‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Love always, Mommy
